NEW PUTTING CHILDREN FIRST COURSES BEGIN 7 MAY 2011
Our first six-week Putting Children First course begins on Saturday 7 May 2011. Each of the six modules that make up the course will be delivered in the morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm and then again in the afternoon from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. You are free to choose which session is the most convenient for you but, if you and your children's other parent both wish to come along, you should each attend a different session. The course will run every Saturday until 11 June 2011.
The sessions will be held at our Quay Street offices in Newport, which are located directly across the road from the courts. We try to encourage both parents to come on the course, each attending a separate session. However, if your children's other parent doesn't wish to come along, you will still find the course extremely beneficial.
The first Putting Children First module looks at the kinds of experiences you may have as you go through divorce or separation, whilst week two examines how your relationship with your child's other parent will have changed. Week three concentrates on how separation affects children and the things you can do to support them. The fourth module looks at families and parenting styles and session five looks at improving communications. The final module offers new tools and strategies to help you build respectful, co-operative post separation parenting relationships that will help your children adjust to living in a separated family.
The cost of the six session course is £65. A deposit of £35 will secure a place. We can also offer weekly standing order arrangements. We understand that it may be difficult for some parents to fund the course themselves and, at our discretion, we try to assist as many parents as possible where they are in a difficult financial situation.
